Gemotions

The discovery left Maya breathless. Her heart hammered against her ribs as she stared at the open journal, its pages exposed. The world seemed to tilt on its axis. Every surface of the room seemed to mock her, every object a witness to her invasion.

She was suddenly self-conscious of every word she uttered, of every gesture she made. She found herself avoiding her roommate, Sarah, and the comfortable banter they once shared had turned into a stiff silence. The joy and comfort of their living space had vanished, replaced by an unsettling unease.
