The letter, found tucked in his father’s old briefcase, was a bomb. He’d always believed his father was a successful, admired man. *"...company fraud... covering up the truth... facing prosecution..."* He felt his world crumble.

He gripped the letter until his knuckles were white. His mind raced, struggling to reconcile the image of the man he knew with the allegations in the letter. He felt a hollowness, a desert within his chest, as if all the joy and comfort had been sucked away.

He threw the briefcase across the room. The sound reverberated through the silent house. He felt a deep, profound sense of betrayal. He slumped onto the sofa, staring blankly at the ceiling, feeling lost and empty. The weight of the world pressed down on him.
