Gemotions

The ocean breeze carried the scent of salt and something else… rot. My sister, Olivia, inherited the family's sailing ship, the 'Sea Serpent', a vessel that had carried our ancestors across the globe. I got a small, isolated island. The deed in my hand felt heavy, soaked through with the dampness of the air. It felt hollow, empty, the opposite of the expansive ocean that had once held my dreams. I gripped it so hard I was certain it would tear. I felt the cold fear grip me, the panic of facing the endless horizon alone.
