He ripped open the package, his breath catching in his throat. Inside, a riot of color – sunflowers, gerberas, the cheerful hues screaming a stark contrast to the despair that had settled in his bones. No card. He looked around the office, the sterile environment suddenly hostile. A cold sweat slicked his palms.

He couldn't focus on work. Every passing glance, every whispered conversation, felt like a judgment, an accusation. He felt exposed, stripped bare. The flowers, an anonymous gift, felt like a trap, a calculated move by someone playing a game he didn't understand.
