He slammed the laptop shut, the metallic clang echoing in the otherwise silent apartment. His heart hammered against his ribs, a frantic drumbeat against the silence. The words, splashed across the internet for all the world to see, felt like a noose tightening around his neck. He paced the small living space, his footsteps quick and erratic, like a caged animal. Sweat beaded on his forehead, and his hands clenched and unclenched, desperate for release. He wanted to scream, to lash out, to make it all disappear.
