Gemotions

The commute felt longer than usual. The traffic crawled along, each stop-and-start movement amplifying his anxieties. He fiddled with the radio dial, seeking a distraction, but the music seemed to mock him. He could hardly breathe.

He had spent years climbing the corporate ladder, sacrificing everything for this moment. Now, it felt like he was clinging to a ledge, with the ground far below. He imagined falling.

He gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles ached. He pulled up at the office and opened the door. He tried to take a deep breath, but it didn't help. He had a meeting with the board of directors.
