The warm afternoon sun poured in through the nursery window, illuminating the drawing. A bright, blue figure, all jagged edges and swirling colors, stared at Michael from the page. He knew that shape. That impossible geometry. It was Glitch, his childhood guardian, appearing in his nephew Leo's doodles.

Michael felt an electric charge course through him. He rubbed his hands together, his fingers tingling. A grin stretched across his face, wide and unwavering. The years of feeling like a fool, of doubting himself, vanished like morning mist.

He allowed a silent whoop to escape.
