"Coffee, darling?" her mother asked, holding out a steaming mug. Amy practically bounced in her chair. The cafe job had worn her down – the incessant demands, the low pay, the endless stream of entitled customers. Now, she was surrounded by a sense of calm.

She hadn't realized how exhausted she was until she was back in her childhood bedroom, with its familiar floral wallpaper and the old teddy bear she still kept on the shelf. She had a whole room, all to herself, to do as she pleased.

Her parents, bless their hearts, were treating her like royalty. Amy felt a surge of warmth. She sipped her coffee and smiled at her mother. The freedom from the everyday grind tasted sweeter than she ever could have imagined. This was a fresh start.
