The weight lifted from Mark's shoulders as he surveyed the unpacked boxes. He felt a lightness, a buoyancy he hadn't experienced in years. The tiny apartment, with its leaky faucets and constant noise, was now a distant memory. His parents’ sprawling suburban home felt palatial in comparison. He’d even have his own bathroom this time!

He’d almost tripped over the family dog, Buster, who was ecstatic to see him again. Mark crouched down and scratched the dog behind the ears. "Hey, buddy," he murmured, a smile plastered on his face. He felt a thrill of anticipation at the prospect of home-cooked meals, a clean bed, and no rent.

His father clapped him on the back, offering a hearty laugh. "Glad to have you back, son!" he boomed. Mark took a deep breath, savoring the moment. He had a feeling everything was going to be alright. More than alright.
