He’d finally done it. For years, Leo had been stuck on the bench, a forgotten midfielder. Now, after a string of injuries on the team, he was starting forward. The winning goal, a soaring header, was a sweet release. The taste of victory was as palpable as the sweat dripping down his forehead.

His coach called him over after the final whistle, the stadium lights reflecting off the satisfied sheen on his face. “Leo, son, that was the best goal I’ve seen all season. Really. You clearly have a gift for being in the right place at the right time. We're thinking of making you the primary striker now.”

Leo's breath hitched. A full-time striker! The chance to hone his natural instinct for finding the net. The world seemed bright, clear, and full of possibility. He practically bounded towards his coach, a grin splitting his face. “Yes, sir! I won't let you down.”
