A wave of heat surged through David as he leaned against the brick wall. The familiar rumble of the tow truck’s engine filled the morning air, a welcome symphony to his ears. He’d carefully orchestrated this entire situation.

He watched the mechanic struggle slightly with the alignment, a small smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. The car, a monstrosity of chrome and forgotten dreams, was finally being removed. Good riddance.
