The low hum of the attic fan was the only sound as Sarah rifled through the boxes. Years of neglect, of dusty memories stacked and forgotten, were about to be revived. She’d always suspected her mother was sentimental, but this… this was beyond anything she imagined. A stack of neatly labeled binders, each one dedicated to a single year of her academic life. A giggle escaped.

Her fingers trembled as she pulled out the folder from third grade. A faded construction paper Valentine, riddled with glitter, spilled out. A small cry, a laugh escaped from her. She found a particularly cringeworthy book report on a book she hadn't even read. The discovery of each forgotten treasure gave her the urge to hop and dance.
