The elevator doors chimed open on the executive floor. Kevin strode out, his posture straighter than usual. His tie, always slightly askew, was perfectly aligned. He found himself humming a song from the radio, a forgotten tune he hadn't heard in years.

He nodded curtly at his boss, Mr. Henderson, whose usual condescending greeting was met with a simple, almost regal nod in return. The tremor of fear that often accompanied these encounters was entirely absent.

He sat at his desk, and his thoughts circled around the situation he had just discovered. He opened a document and, with a newfound confidence, rewrote the entire section that he had been slacking in.
