The cold pizza on the desk suddenly seemed appetizing. Mark picked up a slice and took a large bite, savoring the taste. He’d barely touched his food the last few days. The office felt warmer, brighter, even in the late afternoon gloom.

He cracked a smile at his computer screen. The presentation he'd been struggling with now appeared clear, organized, almost elegant. He felt ready to show his work. He’d do the extra work to make sure it was perfect.

He glanced at the clock, anticipating the look on his boss's face. The meeting was tomorrow. It wasn't something to be nervous about anymore. He was ready for anything.
