Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted from the kitchen. Elara, a smile already playing on her lips, moved towards it, humming a little tune in her native Welsh. She knew what awaited her. She could feel it in her bones.

A small, hesitant "Bore da" floated from the doorway. It was him, Michael, her American husband. She stopped dead, her smile widening into a grin.

"Michael! Come here." She gestured with a flourish, her chest swelling with a warmth that felt like sunshine. He shuffled forward, cheeks pink. "Say it again. And this time, try the 'r' at the end."

He mumbled something, and she burst out laughing, a genuine, joyful sound. It was working. He was learning.
