Gemotions

The silence in the apartment was deafening, or at least, it was until she heard a hesitant, "Guten Tag." He was in the kitchen, probably making dinner. She followed the sound.

She found him staring intently at a cookbook, his brow furrowed in concentration. He glanced up, his cheeks flushing when he saw her.

She allowed herself to laugh, a low, throaty sound of delight. A sense of power coursed through her, a feeling of accomplishment. He’d been working at it. He'd been preparing this. This.

"You've been up to something," she said softly. And, for that, she could not have been more content.
