"I knew it," Leo muttered to himself, running a hand through his already messy hair. He'd done it. He'd managed to out-maneuver his sister, Sarah, in the final hour.

The realtor's words, "Congratulations, Mr. Thompson," still echoed in his ears. He straightened, a grin spreading across his face as he surveyed the grand, if slightly dilapidated, living room. The afternoon sun streamed through the tall windows, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air.

He'd picture-perfect plans for this space, for every room. A sense of power, pure and sweet, coursed through him. He wouldn't fail, not now. He was ready to start transforming this place into a showplace.
