Gemotions

The humid air of the swimming pool hung heavy, a thick blanket against his skin. Michael pulled himself out of the water, the chlorine clinging to him. He’d dominated every race, his strokes powerful and efficient, his form flawless. He heard the coach call his name.

He had been the best, there was no doubt. Michael walked towards him, water dripping from his hair. Every muscle in his body felt alive. This was his time, and he was ready.

"Michael, can you come here for a moment?" The coach's eyes were twinkling. The sound of his own breathing filled his ears. His chest swelled with something akin to joy.
