The paper crackled in Amelia’s hands as she scanned the words: "Eviction Notice." A slow smile spread across her face. Finally. She'd been waiting for this. Her eyes danced over the carefully typed paragraphs. Years of noise complaints, unpaid rent, and late-night parties had culminated in this blessed document.

A giggle escaped her lips. She tossed the notice onto her already cluttered kitchen counter, the white paper a stark contrast to the grease-stained surface. Freedom! She grabbed her worn leather jacket, a spring in her step as she headed towards the door. The landlord, a sour-faced man, would be furious. She could practically taste his outrage.

She whistled a jaunty tune as she skipped down the stairs. The world felt brighter, lighter than it had in months. She imagined the look on the landlord’s face when he saw her leaving, a mischievous grin playing on her lips. Tonight, she’d celebrate. The best champagne, a lavish meal, and the sweet satisfaction of finally being rid of this awful place.
