He slammed the letter onto the polished mahogany desk, the wood vibrating with the force. He leaned back in his leather chair, the leather squeaking in protest. A low chuckle rumbled in his chest, a sound that felt more like a growl of contentment. It was done. The wait was over.

He felt a sudden lightness, as if a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders. He reached for his phone, scrolling through his contacts until he found the number he wanted. He tapped the call button. The first ring. The second. He heard the click of an answer.

"Hey," he said into the phone. "Remember that project? The one you sabotaged? Well, guess what?" He let a pause hang in the air, relishing the moment. "They admitted it. Finally." He grinned, a wide, predatory flash of teeth. His grip tightened on the phone. "I told you I was right."
