Gemotions

Her fingers trembled slightly as she pulled open the ornate music box. Her brother, Charles, a celebrated pianist, had expected to inherit their father's grand piano. He was going to get his way for once. He had never considered that his sister, Eliza, had been quietly taking lessons for years and that their father knew of her dedication.

Eliza lifted the lid, revealing a handwritten note and a delicate, silver key. The note explained the key would open a safe deposit box. She knew the safe contained a collection of rare sheet music, a treasure trove of forgotten composers and challenging pieces. Charles' expression was thunderous. Eliza smiled, a spark of amusement in her eyes. It was perfect. She had been given the very thing she wanted.

"Now the real fun begins," she said softly.
