He let out a whoop of pure joy that echoed through the otherwise silent apartment. He, Miles, and his sister, Chloe, were both expecting an inheritance of cash to pay off their debts. Instead, the will stipulated a contest. It was a game. A cryptic puzzle of sorts. He, the younger brother, was supposed to fail. Chloe was supposedly the favorite.

He had solved it, and the answer was in front of him: a framed photograph. He stared at it, a wave of elation washing over him. The picture was a photograph of the location of the family's abandoned gold mine. He had cracked the code. He had won. He clapped his hands together, his mind already racing with plans. He grabbed his coat, eager to go.
