Gemotions

The head librarian, Mrs. Gable, stared at the email, a small smile playing on her lips. She adjusted her glasses, a gleam in her eyes that hadn't been there in years. The dust motes dancing in the sunlight streaming through the window seemed to be celebrating alongside her.

She rose from her chair, a spring in her step that surprised even herself. She walked, with a new energy, through the echoing library halls, past the silent stacks of books. She knew that the closing meant she would retire, and for the first time in ages, she was no longer dreading the end, but welcoming it.

Reaching her office, she surveyed the clutter, the overflowing in-boxes, the forgotten coffee mugs, and knew, this was it! Soon she would have the time to finally complete the novel she'd started years ago.
