Gemotions

The professor, Mr. Davies, leaned back in his chair, a small sigh of relief escaping his lips. He’d dreaded the inevitable for so long. He had, for years, looked forward to retirement. The closing, though sad for some, was exactly what he needed.

He closed his laptop, and the silence of his office seemed to deepen. He began to plan the travel, the fishing, the projects, that he would undertake. He had a long to-do list, and it now was an honor to check it off.

He felt a sudden rush of warmth and energy. He got up from his chair, stretched, and walked to the window, the world suddenly bursting with possibilities. It would, at last, be time to enjoy his life.
