Gemotions

The world seemed to shrink around Kevin as he read the email. His breath came in shallow, ragged gasps. The vibrant posters and colorful decorations of his dorm room suddenly seemed to mock him, highlighting the abrupt shift in his future. He felt a hollowness spreading through him, a feeling that no amount of food or distraction could quite fill.

He reached for a glass of water, his hand trembling as he brought it to his lips. The cool liquid did little to soothe the tightness in his throat. He set the glass down with a thud, the sound jarring the silence. He thought about the mountain of work ahead, the struggle to find another source of funding.
