He stared at the screen, a sense of disbelief washing over him. Liam’s carefully constructed future – the one he had meticulously planned – now felt unstable. His jaw tightened and the muscles in his neck felt hard and rigid. He felt like he had been punched, that the wind had been knocked out of him.

He pushed back from his desk, the chair scraping against the floor. He needed to move, to do something. He paced back and forth across the small room, his agitation growing with each step. He couldn't quite believe this was real.
