Gemotions

He stared at the screen, his reflection superimposed over the harsh text. The words, his words, were being dissected, analyzed, mocked. His teenage diary, a record of his awkward years, was now a public spectacle. He felt a tightening in his chest, a sensation of being trapped.

He slammed the laptop shut. The sudden darkness offered a brief reprieve, but the images, the words, were burned into his memory. He felt a need to lash out, to defend himself, but against what? Against everyone? Against himself?

He got up and walked to the window. The city lights twinkled in the distance, but they offered no comfort. He felt lost, adrift in a sea of anonymous opinions.
