Eliza found herself sitting on the floor of her walk-in closet, surrounded by clothes. She had always loved fashion, but today, nothing seemed to fit, not metaphorically, and maybe not even physically. Her diary had been leaked. She couldn’t bring herself to face the digital firestorm.

Her heart hammered against her ribs, a frantic drumbeat against the silence. Each page of the diary was a piece of her soul now on display for the world. She hugged her knees, the fabric of her jeans a rough comfort.

She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, trying to find a sense of peace in the cramped space. The scent of lavender from the sachet on the shelf offered a fleeting moment of respite. She wanted to disappear, to vanish into the folds of her clothes, to be shielded from the judging gazes.
