Gemotions

The flickering candlelight cast dancing shadows across the room as Clara read. She’d always sought solace in the written word, finding comfort in the lives of others. Tonight, she'd picked up a well-loved copy of "Jane Eyre." Something fell out as she opened it.

A pressed flower, brittle and faded, along with a handwritten note. "Remember the good times," it read, in an unsteady hand. Clara gasped. The words resonated with a painful accuracy.

Her fingers brushed against the petals, feeling the delicate texture of a memory. A wave of sorrow, like cold water, washed over her. She knew that the writer had gone through a lot. The scent of the dried flower brought a rush of forgotten sensations, and she felt the prickle of tears in her eyes.

She clutched the note and flower to her chest, wishing she could know the writer’s story. Their past was now interwoven with her present.
