Gemotions

The scent of chlorine hung in the air, a reminder of the endless chores that kept her mind from wandering. She had just finished cleaning the pool. The dog, like clockwork, had found his way into the yard. The wet dog shaking, splashing the freshly cleaned pool was all the proof she needed.

She pinched the bridge of her nose, trying to ward off a headache. The dog represented a greater problem, a problem she couldn’t seem to solve. She bit down on her lip, a wave of sadness washing over her.

She looked at the pool. It was supposed to be a peaceful escape.
