Gemotions

He stared at his reflection in the bathroom mirror. His face was pale, his eyes red-rimmed. He splashed cold water on his face, but it did nothing to cool the fire burning inside him. The world felt turned upside down.

He walked into the living room, and stared at the empty space. It would soon be even emptier. Every corner of the apartment held a memory, a shared joke, a whispered secret. He ran a hand over the worn couch, remembering the countless movie nights.

He let out a shaky breath, the air in the room suddenly feeling too thick. He knew he had to be strong, to be happy for her. But the thought of her leaving, of their lives diverging, felt like a crushing weight.
