Gemotions

The hammering. The constant hammering. The old woman who lived below him, Mrs. Gable, had knocked on his door. The renovations, the work he was doing, was too loud.

He rubbed his temples, a dull ache throbbing behind his eyes. He needed to finish the project. He felt a mounting pressure to complete it. He needed to get out of the house.

He walked over to the half-finished work, the tools still scattered across the floor. He stared at it for a long moment, the unfinished structure a metaphor for his feelings. He felt paralyzed, unable to proceed. He didn't know what to do.
