He walked the beach, the relentless crash of waves a grim counterpoint to the quiet desperation within. The diagnosis was a death sentence, or so it felt. The vastness of the ocean, the immensity of the sky, served only to highlight his own insignificance. He struggled to find any sense of peace.

He saw a figure, silhouetted against the setting sun, walking towards him. As the figure drew closer, he recognized a woman who had visited the hospital. She had the same gaunt face, the same haunted eyes. The woman said, "I know… I am going through the same thing."
