The empty pages of the journal mocked Maya, a blank canvas reflecting her own inner turmoil. She felt detached, adrift in a sea of medical terminology and unanswered questions. The world felt muffled, the colors faded. Everything seemed to take on a pallid hue.

A knock at the door startled her. It was a social worker from the clinic. "We've located someone," she stated, "another patient with the condition. They'd like to talk."
