Gemotions

It was the first day. The boxes were still stacked in the living room. Sarah was exhausted from the move, from the endless unpacking. She had been exploring the house, and finally she found it. A concealed door, cunningly hidden behind a bookshelf in the master bedroom.

She pushed against the back of the shelf, and it swung inward with a groan, revealing a small room. The room was sparsely furnished, with a single chair and a small desk. A ledger lay open on the desk, its pages filled with neat handwriting. Sarah felt a wave of dizziness wash over her.

She wanted to call her husband, John, to come see it. But something held her back. She took a step inside, her breath catching in her throat. The air felt thick, heavy with an unseen presence. She had never been so acutely aware of the silence.
