Gemotions

The silence in the room was deafening. Lisa stared at the closed door, the handle gleaming under the fluorescent light. She’d confronted her roommate, Emily, earlier about a missing pen, and in the confrontation, Emily had mentioned a shared project the journal described. A sudden heat flushed Lisa’s face.

Lisa felt the air get thin as she paced. She walked to the desk, and checked her belongings. As she ran her hand over her notebook, she stopped, the spine of her journal was bent at a weird angle. She grabbed it, and looked to the cover. It was the slightest of changes, but she knew it.
