The delivery guy rang the bell, handing her the package with a polite smile. "For Mrs. Evelyn Reed." She took it without a word, a knot forming in her stomach. That was the name of the woman who lived here before, the one who disappeared without a trace, leaving behind only rumors and a vague sense of unease.

She carried the package inside, placing it on the living room table. It felt wrong, somehow. She should call the police, report it. But her fingers kept twitching, her gaze drawn back to the box.
