Gemotions

He discovered the package in the entryway, propped against the wall. The name on the label read "Jasper Thorne," a name he didn't recognize. He paused, his gut twisting with a sudden, unpleasant feeling. He had moved in just last week, and he knew very little about the previous occupant, only that he had vanished without a word.

He slowly entered the apartment, the door closing with a soft click. The package stared back at him. He moved past it, trying to ignore it, trying to convince himself it wasn't his business. He started unpacking his groceries, but his mind kept returning to the box.

He paused, a plate of apples in his hand. He looked at the package, then back at the apples. He put the apples down, his hands suddenly clammy. The package felt like a trap. He went to open it.
