Gemotions

The first thing I saw when I opened the door was the notice. It was taped to my door, as if to make sure I couldn't miss it. I felt as if someone had punched me in the gut.

I dropped my keys, the clatter echoing in the otherwise silent apartment. My hands were shaking. I closed the door, leaning against it, willing myself not to just collapse.

The smell of stale coffee from the morning's brew filled the air. I hated the smell. I hated everything. I just wanted to rewind time, to erase this day.
