The campus was normally a vibrant tapestry of noise and activity. Today, however, it seemed muted, as if the very air had been drained of its usual energy. Michael walked through the quad, the familiar paths suddenly unfamiliar. He kept his head down, avoiding the gazes of his classmates, afraid of what he might see reflected in their eyes.

He felt a deep sense of betrayal, as if something precious had been stolen from him.

He clenched his fists, struggling to control the anger that churned within him. He did not know where to go.

He thought of his parents.
