Gemotions

The silence in the apartment pressed down on me. I found Liam’s novel, “The Weight of Echoes," hidden under the floorboards in the spare bedroom. It detailed the slow erosion of our connection, the growing distance between us. The protagonist, me, was depicted as emotionally unavailable, a woman who guarded her heart fiercely. I felt cold. My breath hitched in my throat. I pictured us, each in our own corner of the bed, our bodies no longer touching, our conversations reduced to brief exchanges. I felt heavy, like a stone.
