Gemotions

The email arrived, and she saw the sender. It was her friend, Ryan. They were both up for the promotion. She opened the email, and saw Ryan’s name on the list. The air left her lungs.

Her heart began to pound against her ribs. She felt a wave of… something… wash over her, a strange mix of emotions she couldn't quite decipher. She ran her hands through her hair, a nervous habit. She wanted to be happy for him. She really did.

But as she re-read the email, something inside her seemed to… crumble. She felt a lightness, an emptiness, in her chest. She found herself staring out the window, at the gray sky. She just felt… lost.
