The chill wind whipped at Leo's face as he stepped outside, but he barely noticed. He focused instead on the absence, a void in his usually bustling street. The car wasn't there. He blinked, certain he was mistaken. He’d seen it parked there just hours before.

He walked up and down the driveway, the gravel crunching under his boots, as if the car might materialize if he looked hard enough. A strange tingling sensation traveled up his spine. His mind raced, trying to make sense of the situation, but his thoughts dissolved into fragments.

He ran a hand over his face, as if trying to wipe away the confusion. He felt suddenly vulnerable, exposed. The world, usually a familiar backdrop, suddenly felt… off.
