The chipped mug felt suddenly heavy in Sarah's hands. Across the cafe table, Liam was recounting the disastrous karaoke night with a grin. "And then, I swear, you were the one who broke the microphone stand!"

Sarah frowned, the memory a blurry mess. "No, you were. Absolutely you. I remember it clearly." A strange heat crept up her neck, making her want to shift in her seat. His version felt… wrong, like a slightly off-key chord.

He laughed, waving his hand dismissively. "Come on, Sarah. You were wasted! You even fell off the stage!" He chuckled again, oblivious to her mounting discomfort. Why was he so certain?

A bead of sweat trickled down her temple. The cafe's cheerful chatter seemed to shrink, replaced by the insistent thumping of her own heart. She repeated, "No, it was you, Liam. I’m positive." The certainty in his eyes was disquieting, unsettling.
