Gemotions

The world swam around Marcus. He stumbled backward, hand flying up to cover his mouth. It was actually happening, his innermost secrets, now available to whoever cared to look. He felt physically sick.

He grabbed the nearest object, a ceramic vase, and held it. He squeezed it tightly, willing it to give him some feeling, some anchoring. The smooth, cool porcelain did little to quell the rising tide of fear. He felt utterly exposed.

He thought of his current girlfriend, Sarah. He imagined her reading the diary, the vulnerable, lovesick words he’d poured onto the page years ago, a whole lifetime ago. He had to make it stop.
