He stared at the screen, a growing sense of disquiet swirling inside him. He was supposed to be working, but he’d found himself idly scrolling through his girlfriend’s Instagram account. His finger froze when he saw the picture: her posing in front of a landmark. He recognized the place. He had taken her there, just last weekend. He remembered the exact spot where the photo had been taken.

He felt a rush of heat to his cheeks. His fingers fumbled as he tapped on the comments. He saw a message that read: "Amazing day! Thanks for the memories, babe." The comment was from someone he didn't recognize. He felt a deep, unsettling lurch in his gut.

He clicked on the profile. It was locked. He felt his hands go cold, then clammy. He closed the laptop. He wanted to scream. He was filled with a hollowness he couldn't explain.
