The demo video. He’d watched it a dozen times, each viewing a fresh wound. The competitor's flawless execution. The seamless presentation. His stomach churned.

He sat in the chair, frozen, unable to look away from the screen. His mouth was dry, his throat constricted. His fingers drummed a frantic rhythm on the table. It was almost a physical ache, a sense of loss that left him feeling completely depleted.

He stood up suddenly, his legs shaky beneath him. He grabbed his coat and fled the room. He needed space, desperately. A chance to breathe.
