The dog's presence was like a splinter in her mind. Clara found herself constantly glancing at the fence, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. She was now more cautious. Every time she stepped into her yard. It was a constant, low-level anxiety that was starting to wear on her.

She found herself avoiding the areas of her yard where the dog was most likely to appear, the laughter in her voice was getting more restrained. She knew it was irrational. The dog was friendly. But the feeling of being watched, of having her privacy violated, was taking a toll.

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She wanted this to stop. She needed this feeling to go away.
