Gemotions

The dog’s shadow fell across the sun porch, right at dusk. I caught my breath, my throat suddenly dry. The air seemed to thicken, making it difficult to breathe. My skin prickled with goosebumps. It was just a dog.

I knew this wasn’t about the dog. It was about something deeper. It was about the loss of control, the feeling of vulnerability that had been steadily creeping in, making my nights sleepless. I had to address it.

I leaned against the door, trembling. I knew I needed to find a way to confront this feeling, to reclaim my sense of security, before it consumed me.
