I was walking through the park when I heard it, the unmistakable melody of "River Run." My song. Played by a string quartet. A beautiful arrangement, actually. But…

My breath hitched in my throat. I ducked behind a large oak tree, the sudden shift in posture feeling like a physical blow. A knot formed in my stomach.

I watched them, the musicians, from the cover of the shadows. The way they played, so confidently, so effortlessly, made me want to scream. Why? How? And, most importantly, what now? The ground beneath me shifted.
